Lightwaves by Quays Culture in Salford Quays
Lightwaves interactive light festival is returning to Salford Quays this December for a 10-day event. There will be several installations to explore with the pinnacle being ‘Floating Earth’ by Luke Jarman. In a year fraught with more climate disaster than ever this is an opportunity to reflect as we move in to 2022. The 10- metre wide piece details NASA imagery of the earth’s surface and aims to communicate our relationship with and responsibility towards the planet.

On The Brink Studio Open Day in Stockport
For one day only, on December 11th, On The Brink Studio will be hosting an open day. Photographer Elle Brotherhoods will be showcasing a collection of work and woodwork, prints and illustrations from other makers will be available to view and buy.

The Frost Fair at Whitworth Art Gallery
The Frost Fair will include live music, dancing, arts, crafts as well as firework finale (paying tribute to our key-workers). This is a great family friendly event covering the grounds of The Whitworth gallery and, after nearly two years of not being able to get together and party with friends, is a great opportunity to meet up with your pals and enjoy the festivities.

Derek Jarman: Protest! at Manchester Art Gallery
The greatly anticipated exhibition Derek Jarman: Protest! will be opening very soon on 2nd December. There will be works on display, a film and accompanying events to attend. This exhibition will showcase Derek Jarman’s fantastic career as a filmmaker, painter, designer and LGBTQ+ activist and campaigner. Perspectives +18 Exhibition at Leven Hotel
Hotel and venue Leven will be hosting the new exhibition Perspective +18 on 3rd December. As described on Eventbrite, “the show comprises of multi disciplinary outcomes based on artist work and experiences. Influences from pop art to 2D animation and drawing in a classical sense. Incorporating new approaches of capturing the beautiful relationship between the artist and the sitter from Manchester’s vibrant gay scene.
