What’s On: August

The Summer holidays are here! There’s plenty of arty things to get you and the kids involved in so let’s take a look:

AIR Open 2022 – Air Gallery

Bit of a sneaky entry as this launches in July, but it’s an exhibition not to miss! The AIR Open is back for another fantastic exhibition of contemporary art from local, national and International artists.

This open themed showcase presents the best of contemporary art today across the fields of video, fine art, drawing, sculpture, textile and mixed media. All works were selected by a judging panel via an open call submission process.

Day Fest – Anterp Mansion

West Art Collective x Bloc2Bloc presents our Day Fest, a rave culture themed art and music event held at Antwerp Mansion!

For over 12 hours we will blasting your ears with multiple sound systems outside during the day and moving inside of the Mansion at night alongside presenting 50+ exhibiting artists and performers. You can expect, a large art exhibition curated by West Art Collective, music takeover Bloc2Bloc plus special guests, performance art, stalls, BBQ and even a bouncy castle!

Art for Our Sakes – See Saw

See Saw is a is a space for culture, community, work, art, wellbeing, coffee and food. One of Manchester’s historic warehouses reimagined as a creative hub, workspace, cafe, events and exhibition space.

They have a new exhibition this month – Art For Our Sakes. ‘Join us to celebrate the summer and indulge in artworks of the talented makers of Manchester for a night of music, art and togetherness.’

Painted Jazz – The Fitzgerald

In aid of Manchester Mind, This event aims to create a therapeutic space. An afternoon of painting, cocktails and live music from our Jazz bands. Money from each ticket sold will be donated to Manchester Mind.
Manchester Mind is a local independent mental health charity supporting over 7000 children, young people, and adults every year.

Painting Tickets include, canvas, paints and paintbrushes, 1 glass of Prosecco and 1 hour of performances from our Jazz band.

Beyond Landscapes – Saul Hay Gallery

Here’s our big event for August! ‘Beyond Landscapes’ is our upcoming, open call exhibition where we look deeper into what ‘landscape art’ can be.

We want this exhibition to not only show painted landscapes of natural scenes, but abstract work, cityscapes and even landscape themed sculptures – all from Greater Manchester artists. This exhibition will be displayed in the amazing Saul Hay Gallery, and is open for all to come along and see a huge variety of work from talented, Manchester artists, all exploring what ‘landscapes’ means to them.

Launching with a private view, Wednesday 17th August, the exhibition runs to Sunday 28th August and is free to attend! Reserve your ticket here – Private View
