So the Art All Dayer: Spring Edition is less than a week away and we are crazy busy here at the Cotton On MCR headquarters.
Here’s a little insight into what we get up in the last week before the event and a bit more of a teaser of what to expect this Saturday!
Emailing: As you can imagine we send a whole lot of emails, and this last week is no exception. Final emails to Halle to confirm all the tiny details. Emails to the artists selling at the fair answering any last questions and finalising things. Emails briefs to the staff working to make sure they’ll all good. Emails to those taking part in the workshops to remind them of the class times and locations… So yeah, emails galore.
Printing: Have you noticed how many posters we put up around Halle St Peter’s? Welcome posters, Feedback posters, Exhibition upstairs, Workshops this way, Art talk posters. Plus set up plans, to do lists, risk assessments and more. So lots of printing and laminating to be done.
Speaking of Artist talks, we will be doing free, informal talks at this editions exhibition. Hosted by the art students of MMU, we will have four talks throughout the day. One where myself, the founder of Cotton On MCR will be speaking to the guests about the exhibition and the overall event! These are great to get to know the artists more and find out about the work on show and for sale.
Packing: So much packing. You have to be super organised to run these things. There’s a box for the front desk, multiple boxes for the workshops and boxes for our Cotton On MCR table. Did you know we have a table in the main hall? Here you can come talk to us personally, find out more about the Art All Dayer and our futures events. Plus, come talk to us about what you do! We love hearing from others and getting inspiration and maybe think of ways we can work together.
But yes, packing. This is where lists are a savior, I have a 2 page packing list of everything we need to put this event together.
Ironing: Yep, you read that right, ironing! We have 11 staff working at the Art All Dayer, each needing uniform. Plus table cloths to iron too. So lots of ironing to do.
And everything else: The rest of the business still has to go on, so social media planning, newsletter writing, emailing clients, writing articles, going to meetings…. it’s going to be a busy busy week indeed!
