End of Year Recap

So the time has come, new year new me and all that jazz. It’s time to look back and evaluate 2022 and what happened. To review the highs, and the lows, see what worked, what we learnt, and what we are taking on to 2023! I like to write things down so thought that doing this in a blog post would be good, so you can all get a better insight into what we do and how we do it!

We had a few goals for 2022, some reached, some we are just a stone’s through away from. That being, we wanted to reach 10,000 followers on Instagram, and at the time of posting this we are at 9904. So if you don’t yet follow us on Instagram – please do and help us get one step closer! @cottononmcr

But other goals we did reach. We wanted to host four Art All Dayer events, one in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. We did that and had a blast n doing so! We also wanted to host 2 large exhibitions, so we held ‘In Manchester’ in Barbirolli Square, and Beyond Landscapes at Saul Hay.

Beyond Landscapes

As well as that, we held 3 pop-up, private exhibitions in apartment blocks, a month-long exhibition at Whitworth Locke, plus art talks at both of these, and at ‘In Manchester too’. We also held a whole bunch of workshops, too many to count! We have had a crazy busy year and it has been amazing!

But, thee has also been some challenges too. We had lower attendee numbers than hoped at a couple of the Art All Dayers, and we had to cancel some workshops due to not enough tickets sold. We also had to close our Cotton On Leeds branch as we simply couldn’t juggle the two sides of the business.

So, looking back and what worked and what didn’t, we are heading into 2023 with some new ideas. We always want to be the leading art event company, that continue to promote Manchester’s art scene and work solely with Greater Manchester artists. We have some new event ideas which we may try, and working out which of our current events to take into 2023. For that, we need your help! It would be AMAZING if you took just a minute of your time to give us some feedback on the events we have held and what you would like from us in 2023. You can fill in this form – COTTON ON MCR 2023 SURVEY

This will give us an idea of what you want from us, and give us a starting point to plan 2023. But what is great about this business and doing this job, is that you can’t fully plan anything. Who knows what new events, what new companies, what new venues we may be working with next year. Who knows, something huge could happen that will change the whole year completely?!

I just want to end with a massive THANK YOU! This year I left my day job to take on Cotton On MCR full time and although I was s**t scared, I am so glad that I did it, and so proud of myself for doing it. I couldn’t do that without the support from you all, so thank you so much!

Lastly, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us here at Cotton On MCR!
