o there is obviously one big event happening this December – Christmas 2022! However, before that great day, there are art events for you to attend! Here’s our list of what’s on in Greater Manchester this month.
We have something brand new for this Winter’s Edition of our Art All Dayer (Saturday 19th November at 100 Barbirolli Square)….We are bringing you a CHOIR!!!
We are pleased to introduce you to our Manc of the Month for November, Jude Wainwright aka The Jude.. Jude is a phenomenal self-portrait and landscape painter and has featured on Sky’s Portrait Artist of the Year!
Hi everyone, so this is kind of news, but maybe not really, as to you nothing much will change… Let me explain…
So much is happening this November, so we decided to break it up into exhibitions and fairs. SO let’s start with the exhibitions:
We get to meet a lot of people by running Cotton On MCR, lots of artists, creatives and people with inspiring stories. One of those people is Anna Hill. She has recently taken a leap and launched a new upholstery business with a twist, an art twist, and one we are all for!
We here at Cotton On MCR love it when people celebrate the talent here in the north, and Shot Up North Photography Awards are doing just that. They are providing an amazing opportunity for photographers out there…
One thing we notice here at Cotton On MCR is that textile art doesn’t seem to have much of a platform here in Manchester. One textile artist in particular has noticed this lack of celebration for textile art, and is doing something about it.
We are pleased to introduce you to our Manc of the Month for October, Olga Mun. Olga is a contemporary British painter whose body of works draws heavily upon abstraction and figuration to explore, give name and voice to the conflicted spaces we currently inhabit. Interestingly, her visual vocabulary does not necessarily come from watching art. Rather, it takes a lot from architecture, design, theatre and nature.
Although you might want to stay cosy this October, we have sourced some amazing exhibitions that launch this month to get you back out into the city and exploring what Manchester has to offer:
t’s always a pleasure to see Manchester artists strive, and to see them exhibiting their work in local galleries and venues, it makes me smile. So too will the new work at her first ever solo exhibition by Laura Pedley, hosted by Comme Ca Art at The Lowry Hotel.
The Art All Dayer is fast approaching and we have a whole bunch of new and exciting elements to add to the event! For the first time ever, see and collaborate with our live artist!
We are pleased to introduce you to our Manc of the Month for September, Alena Ruth Donely. Donely is a self-proclaimed vegan rug maker, a fibre artist specialising in using a pneumatic tufting gun and vegan materials, whose Instagram is a minefield of colour-popping rugs and patterns. Her studios Islington Mill describes Alena’s visual style as ‘unapologetically technicolour, playful and emotive’.
The Summer is drawing to an end, but fear not, there are still tons of new arty things to explore and engage with.. so let’s take a look:
We are pleased to introduce you to the winner of the people’s choice award as voted for by our In Manchester exhibition attendees, Hathaikan Kongaunruan! The prize of this vote is a solo exhibition at our upcoming Art All Dayer event happening this September.
