Spring is here, Easter weekend is coming, the days are longer, so why not spend your extra time at one of the amazing art events coming up this month?
So the Art All Dayer: Spring Edition is less than a week away and we are crazy busy here at the Cotton On MCR headquarters. Here’s a little insight into what we get up in the last week before the event and a bit more of a teaser of what to expect this Saturday!
We are super excited to introduce our March Manc of the Month, Alex Giles. Alex has found himself super busy after lockdown and the opportunities just keep coming for him.
Not only is it the Cotton On MCR: Art All Dayer this month, there’s also lots of talks and art exhibitions around the city too, so read on to find out more.
Although I have been looking forward to this exhibition, I have come away feeling like something is missing.
We have written a couple of articles across Cotton On MCR and Cotton On Leeds discussing women artists and lack there of showing their work in galleries. One gallery right in the heart of Manchester City Centre is doing their bit to change the scale and balance out their statistics, with a new, female-led exhibition named ‘Habitat.’
Hosting exhibitions cost money, but there is controversy about asking artists to pay for open calls. So why are we asking artists to pay to be part of our events?
Our February’s Manc of the Month is the one and only Andy Smith. His work is so varied, from cityscapes to life-drawing, more sculptural pieces to abstract work.
