Open art galleries

A run through of gallery open dates.

OK, so we get it, the last four months have felt closer to 4 years, and in that time, we have all missed the Manchester art scene. Well, we’re in July now, lockdown’s beginning to lift, which means… you guessed it, the galleries are starting to open again! Soon you’ll be able to walk The Whitworth, pace around The Lowry, and finally, get back in the cinema at HOME.

‘HOME SOON’ Manchester’s HOME Gallery plans to reopen on 4th September

Some establishments are opening sooner than others, and some simply, just haven’t got a set date as of yet, but for now here are some dates and places so you know where you can go and when:

HOME Gallery : 4th September, starting with a 20-30% capacity and gradually increasing.

Air Gallery: 8th July, however, workshops still postponed.

Whitworth Art Gallery: Due to open sometime in September (no date specified as of yet).

The Lowry: Date set around 30th September.

Modernist Society: Currently open, but only on Saturdays from 11am – 5pm.

Saul Hay: Reopened on Wednesday 17th June.

Castlefield Gallery: Temporarily closed. Follow them on social media for the latest updates.

CFCCA: Set to re-open early September, no date specified.

Holden Gallery: Currently closed until further notice.

Touchstones: No set date yet, but due to open soon. Keep checking for updates.

Salford Museum & Art Gallery: Open from 4th August, book a 30min slot.

Weavers Factory: On a temporary break. Reopening on March 6th 2021.

Manchester Art Gallery: Opens 20th August, Thurs-Sun, 11am -4pm

The Turnpike: Currently closed until further notice.

The Whitworth Gallery may be temporarily closed, but the park is still open
