dis/connected hosted by Ashleigh Kent

dis/connected online

This exhibition wasn’t planning on being an online one, but the theme is quite fitting for our current situation. Surrounding the themes of loneliness and feeling isolated, ‘dis/connected’ aims to explore the emotional side of student life, as well as ’emphasising the importance of developing a beneficial relationship with yourself.’ I particularly like the video piece by Ella Jackson, who explores the connections with her surroundings and the emotions of feeling homesick. The exhibition also features animation, photography and paintings too.

Inside by Cross Street Arts

Inside Cross Street Arts

‘Inside’ is the first online exhibition hosted by Cross Street Arts. Artists from the studios based in Wigan have responded to the theme of being ‘Inside’ during the Covid-19 lockdown. This is hosted on the Cross Street Arts Facebook page, under a new photo album, where you can explore the work of many different artists in many different mediums. They are currently in the process of adding to their new exhibition, named ‘Contact’.

GALA hosted by Dez Rez Projects

Dez Rez Projects

I was looking forward to this one, so now I am super happy it has been moved online so we don’t miss it. ‘Gala’ brings together six Manchester artists, for one week only! These artists ‘are creating a virtual project space using Instagram in which audiences can view an exhibition of contemporary painting, sculpture and film.’ Plus, they’ll be talks too – which I imagine will be online also. The art will be for sale with money going toward Victoria Baths, a beautiful landmark of Manchester. This exhibition launches on 25th April.

It is truly inspiring to see how everyone is adapting and finding new ways of working to keep us motivated and keep us going. Don’t get me wrong, I can not wait to step foot in a real gallery again, but in the meantime, these online exhibitions are seeing me through.

If you have an online exhibition you wish to add to the list, drop us the details here – Submit your event.
