Top 5 Art Exhibitions and Events this November

A run-through of our top Art Exhibitions and Events in Manchester this month

It’s November! Bonfire night has passed – I hope all the dogs out there are OK, did you see the story about the dog who went blind because its eye popped out due to the fear?? My days!

Anyway, if you are willing to brave the cold, there is plenty on this month in the Manchester art world! With Christmas just 7 weeks away – 7 WEEKS! – there are a whole bunch of new art fairs popping up. There’s also some incredible new exhibitions happening around town too!

Read on below to check out our featured favourites, but make sure you head over to the What’s On Calendar to see what else is happening in the amazing city of Manchester!

Rogue Women

‘Rogue Women’ at Rogue Artists’ Studios

‘Throughout art history women have been largely invisible, ignored and excluded from the dialogue.’ This is the thesis of this exhibition. The beautiful women over at the studios have got together to bring us an exhibition of their work which aims to ‘respond to the discourse around the gender imbalance in the arts.’ This links back to one of our features – What About the Women in Art? where we discussed why women are not being represented as much as men in our galleries.

They say; ‘We return to Manchester Cathedral for a winter fair edition of the fair; a festive day of shopping, eating and fun!’

The State of Us

‘The State of Us’ at The Lowry

To end with a weird and wonderful exhibition, here is ‘The State of Us’. This group exhibition houses digital art which ranges from the ‘grotesque to the wonderful’. We have all seen either The Terminator, or A.I, I-robot – all those films where robots are made to look like humans, this exhibition examines themes of the body, and how we use our bodies to create these robots. ‘…digital artists examine how the body and self are transformed, manipulated, reinvented and reshaped to create a new ‘self.’ Creepy right?

Free. Saturday 9th November – Sunday 23rd February. thelowry.com/the-state-of-us/
